Does Cloaker Really Work? What's the Best Cloaker? We Tested Market Tools and Wrote a Review...

In this post, we'll tell you exactly everything you need to know about cloakers, show you the best tool on the market, and at the end share a hack to make your operation 100% plagiarism-proof.

What Is a Cloaker?

A "cloaker" is a term often used in digital marketing and cybersecurity. It refers to a technique or tool that masks the real content of a web page or ad for certain users or systems, such as search engines or ad platforms. This practice is known as "cloaking."

Here are some of the most common applications of cloaking:

  1. SEO Cloaking: This involves showing search engines different content than what is shown to human visitors, with the goal of manipulating search rankings. Search engines receive an SEO-optimized version, while real users see different content.
  2. Ad Cloaking: Used to show ad platforms (such as Google Ads or Facebook Ads) different content than what is shown to real users. This can be used to bypass the advertising policies of these platforms, allowing content that would otherwise be banned to be displayed.
  3. Phishing Cloaking: This involves masking the true destination of a link or the content of a page to deceive users. Users are led to believe they are clicking a link or visiting a legitimate page, when in reality they are being redirected to a malicious page.

Does Cloaker Really Work? What Are the Benefits of Using This Tool?

Yes, cloaker really works and can bring many benefits to your marketing campaigns, such as:

  1. Lower CPM on platforms: Most ad platforms, such as Facebook Ads, Google Ads, and others, use a similarity system to rank and categorize the auctions for each ad published on the platform. So let's say you're using the term "Headache" in the headline of your sales page… The platform bot will simply access your page, recognize that you're using that word, and place you in the same auction as other people using a similar term. So if many people are advertising a solution for "headache," you'll pay much more than usual in CPM for that ad. With a cloaker, you can simply bypass this system, since you can show a completely different page to platform bots, with less popular and cheaper terms.
  2. Protection against plagiarism: Using the right setup and platform, you can identify virtually 100% of malicious visits from people coming from SPY platforms or trying to clone your offer/product and show them a fake page.
  3. Fewer blocks on ad platforms: Since with a cloaker you can show different pages to platform bots, you only need to configure it to show a "white" page that is 100% within the platform's policies and advertise whatever you want on the offer page, which only your customers and target audience will see.

How Can I Apply This Technique in My Setup?

Simple — first you need to choose which platform to use. There are several options on the market, from simple and affordable to more complete and expensive. We tested several, including Keitaro, Cloak It, and Fraud Filter, but all of them were VERY difficult to configure, didn't work very well, and in some cases the price, being in dollars, was a bit steep…

But after talking with some friends who have been in the Digital Marketing market for a while, they recommended a platform called Cloakup — and basically, it was the winner.

Cloakup is extremely functional, much simpler to configure, and works much better… It also seems to be the most popular and is actually considered the best cloaker on the market according to some networking groups with major players in the industry.

Another positive point is the price, with plans starting at US$ 37.00 for 20,000 requests (visits), which is MUCH more affordable than the market average, with platforms that have starter plans of up to $97 for 20,000 requests.

How Can I Make My Offers 100% Plagiarism-Proof?

Well, basically our strategy will be to use some combinations of filters available in Cloakup to block cloners.

"Show content" feature

It's important to always keep this option checked on your offer page so that the filter URL and the page URL are always the same. In other words, even if someone passes through the filter, copies the URL, and forwards it to another person, that other person will also go through the filter again.

"Adspy" and "Proxy/VPN" filters

Always keep these two filters active — this will block people trying to disguise their location or coming from Adspy platforms.

Geolocation filter (if you run ads outside Brazil)
Since our operation runs worldwide in English, we always block Brazil — after all, it's the country where offer cloners are most concentrated.

URL parameter filter (MOST IMPORTANT)

Basically, this filter will check whether the URL the person is using to access your page contains a specific URL parameter; if it does, it lets them through, if not, it blocks them. So all you need to do is choose which parameter you're going to use, put it there, and then when you launch your ad, configure that parameter within your ad. This way, only people who RECEIVED your ad and clicked on it will be able to see the real content of your page.

IMPORTANT: For this to work, when you add the parameter to your ad, NEVER put it directly in the URL. If you do this, people who click on your ad through the ad library or some adspy tool will access it with the parameter you used for filtering. That's why you should always add the parameter in the specific URL parameters area of your ad platform. Here's a screenshot of where that area is in Facebook Ads:

With this setup, it's practically IMPOSSIBLE for anyone who isn't your customer or target audience to access your page and clone your offers/VSLs.

Hope you have a great experience using cloaker and that this knowledge changes the game for your business — see you soon!
